Dunn Park

Friday (which you may know was October 5) was in the 80’s - maybe Massachusetts isn't so bad after all :o) The boys and I went over to Dunn Park in Gardner since it met all our criteria – it was within our budget (free), its close by, and it’s a really fun place to go on a nice day. It’s a lake, and during the summer they have a small beach and swimming area with a lifeguard. They also have canoes and paddle boats for rent. Right behind the beach is a playground, and there are trails through the woods where you can walk. We started out at the playground, but as soon as Darius spotted the water, he was off, dragging me behind. He walked straight down into the water without even pausing.

I could still see Taye from the water’s edge, and since there were no other people around I didn’t mind him playing on the playground by himself. He didn’t stay over there for too long before he decided to join us. He wasn’t interested in taking the plunge with Darius, but he did keep slapping his foot into the water, then running away saying, “I splashed!” and laughing. They played a lot in the sand, Taye threw rocks into the water, Darius was in and out of the water, and eventually we went back over to the playground. It was a short visit, but a lot of fun. It really made me wish we had gone more often this summer, I don't know why we didn't. Next year...
