Cheshire Fair

Every year in Swanzey, NH they have the Cheshire Fair. We drive by the fairgrounds on our way to Keene, and always wondered what the fair was like. I checked the schedule online and it was a lot of animal events, it seemed like a 4-H kind of thing. We decided to check it out yesterday. They were having a demolition derby that we thought Taye would like. It turned out to be a huge event. It was a 4-H fair, there were tons of animals to see. But it was also a carnival with rides, games, and lots of vendors. We agree that we definitely want to go back next year. It seemed like something that would be a lot more fun (and more expensive!) as the boys get older. For now Taye was just happy that there were so many vehicles around. They got to play in an army Humvee, and check out a lot of old rebuilt tractors, as well as brand new John Deeres. Really, what more could they ask for? They also had petting zoos, and you could walk into the various barns where the animals in the competitions were. They had a tent in the middle with a huge enclosed incubator full of eggs. There were maybe a dozen hatched baby chicks inside, and a couple who were working their way out. Luis and I agreed that was our favorite part. On our way to get tickets for the derby, we saw a tent full of people and went in to check it out. It was a pulling competition, I guess. They were attaching bulls to huge concrete blocks to see how much they could pull. We stayed until the guy started smacking the bulls, then decided it was time to go. That was the only part we didn't like. It turned out the line for the tickets was very long. Taye was not in a mood to stand still, and Luis couldn't hold him or chase him much because he hurt his back. We had been there for a couple of hours at that point and walked all over, so we decided to head home. It was a lot of fun, I am looking forward to next year.

Every time Taye got on a truck, he would ask for Darius to come up too. He wanted to make sure we didn't forget him, lol.

And this:

Oh, I forgot to mention the kiddie pool full of corn :o)
