Happy Birthday Darius!

Darius' birthday week has begun. I think it was a good start, but you be the judge...

Friday, Nana gave Darius his present. She got him a butterfly kit, complete with live caterpillars. She was just glad to get it out of her room! Darius is a bug freak, and has asked me every day if the butterflies are ready to come out yet. He will be so excited when they do come out.

Saturday morning Darius opened his present from us, can you guess what it is?

Fishing rods! Both boys have been asking to go fishing for weeks, we thought this would be a hit (and it was).

After a chocolate chip panCAKE breakfast...

we took a trip to the lake to try out the new rods.

Nothing was caught, but they had a lot of fun trying anyway. Mya was content to just hang out and sleep in her new, cozy carrier, made by Tia. I am so excited to be rid of the blue flames...

After the fun of fishing wore off, the boys chased a butterfly down the beach, played on the playground and in the woods, and we wrapped up our visit.

On the way out, Taye insisted that he, Darius, and Daddy have a race. He didn't ask me because he knows me. :o) Darius decided to add some spinning flair to his running stride, it was very fancy.

From there we decided to go to Look Park, since we were headed that way for the Carey's party anyway. I have vague memories of this park from childhood Sunday drives, but I suspect it is much more awesome now that it was then. We visited the spray park first. Neither of the boys were interested in getting wet, but they had fun running around all the same.

Mya wasted no time getting wet. We were convinced that she was going to get blasted when this little trickle turned into a geyser, but she managed to time it just right.
By far the most fun was drinking the water (yum).
After that, we walked to the other side of the fence and played on the enormous playground.

Darius and Daddy got locked up, which is what happens when you make bad guy faces, they should have known...
My favorite was the swings, everyone was happy...and contained!

After a couple hours at Look Park (where we visited maybe 1/10 of the park), we were ready for the real fun to begin. We headed over to Joanine's goodbye (*sniff*) party. Mya was ready to party:

We had a great time, Carey parties are always awesome.

They even thought to get a cake for Darius, which was so sweet. He had such a great day, it made me so happy to see him.
