Luis and I were putting the seats back into the minivan, and turned around to see this. He climbed through the driver's side window...which he used to do in the Subaru, but I never thought he'd make in in the minivan. Silly me.

Upping the ante
The latest feat of the original Knievel (just imagine when they're old enough to brainstorm together!)

Darius' Party
Due to a variety of circumstances, Darius' party ended up being the smallest gathering ever. Or, as I like to think of it, an exclusive get-together for the people who love him most. The Dorseys, Judy, Justice, and Libby were our guests, and we all had a great time together.
The night before, I asked Darius what he wanted on his cake. He told me, "a key, a dollhouse made of wood, and all the candy from my piñata." Mmm-kay, here ya go!

There were the usual festivities; the piñata (I did leave some candy in it, 5lbs. won't fit on a small cake!)

Speaking of which, do the math - 6 candy-eating kids (well, 7 - we saved some for Keyeanna) split a 5lb. bag of candy. That's a bit much, I'm thinking...though I doubt they'd agree!

After the candy was divided, we moved inside for some more sugar. In the form of homemade chocolate cake, with just a little toddler spit. :o)

Judging from the pictures, I'd say that was a hit as well.

Clearly someone missed out on the sugar rush...

There was more time spent playing outside, and to wrap it all up, a tour of the new house (with a freshly painted living room, thanks Mom!)

After the crew had left, Nana and Jim gave Darius his presents, and took us all out for dinner. Oh, how I wish I could share those photos, but they are on my cell phone and the cable to connect it to the computer is is some box, somewhere. Let's just say I may have mentioned to the waitress at the Texas Roadhouse that we were celebrating a couple of birthdays. If you've ever been there, you know what that means. Pictures to come, I promise!

A first
The morning of Darius' party, Kathy called to let us know they would not be able to make it. Keyeanna had fallen the night before and broke her arm. The boys and I decided to make her a get-well card and put together some goodies for her. I asked Taye if he wanted to draw something in the card, and he said 'no, just write my name.' So I handed him the marker and pen, and watch as he did this:

This was the first time he wrote his name (and I had to give it away!) I was very impressed, and so was he. A few minutes later he decided to make Darius a birthday card too. He had me write Darius' name, and then he wrote his own. So, at least I get to keep the second copy. :o)

Homeschooling at it's best
Taye came over to me today, and said very seriously, "D-D-D-Dammit...D is for Dammit!"
Knievel gets a new name...
and that name is Mya.
Last night I left her in the living room while I threw out some trash in the kitchen, and wiped down the table. Which took maybe 1.5 minutes. I came back to find her halfway up the stairs. I didn't react, just walked up after her, as I didn't want her to make a move and fall. Still, she stared at me, laughing, while I came over with complete mischief in her eyes.
Oh, but it gets better! Today I buckled her into her booster seat, and left her with the boys eating breakfast at the table. I went to the bathroom for 2, maybe 3 minutes. When I came back, she was standing...in the seat next to her seat. As in, she somehow wiggled out of the buckle, stood on her seat, and climbed over the arms of the chair into the next chair. Oy.

Just keeps getting better
The boys were playing in the front yard while Luis and I worked on the house this morning. Luis was downstairs and heard Taye yelling for him. He went out to see Taye running towards the house holding this:

He caught it all by himself, because he is 'getting big like Daddy.' He let Darius take a turn before letting the frog go.

Tear my heart out...
The other morning, we heard Darius crying over the monitor. Luis got up to go to him, he has basically taken over the boys' nighttime parenting, and Mya was nursing at the time. A moment later I heard Darius say, crying, "Mama, I'm too far from you!"
