Once we went down into the subway, the ride lost some of its appeal. Its not as exciting when all you see out the windows is darkness. The boys got pretty restless, and I think we got into Boston just before we all lost our minds. Luis was already waiting for us, and we headed over to see what was going on at Faneuil Hall. Taye had a lot of fun counting the stairs on the way down, "two, trece, quatro..." We're working on it :o)
There wasn't a whole lot going on once we got there. Taye chased some pigeons, and we did stop for a few minutes to listen to Inca Son, but mostly we just walked around for a while. It got pretty boring, so we decided to walk over to the harbor and check out the boats. We found "Ahts: The Boston Arts Festival" (I love the name) going on when we got there. There were dozens of tents set up with artists selling their creations. We checked some of them out, but there were a lot of breakables around, so we didn't get to see as much as I would have liked. They also had a stage with performers. They had African dancers performing while we were there. They were amazing to watch, and afterwards they called people up on stage for a dance lesson. I tried to get Luis and Taye to go, but they didn't want to. Taye was content to just sit and play with his car on the grass.
After a short break, we went over to look at the boats.
We walked back through the park to get lunch at Quincy Market. Taye paused to water the flowers, which was very nice of him because it was hot out!
After lunch we were thinking of walking to the Common, but decided it was just too hot. We stopped to watch this street performer for a while before heading home. He twisted his whole body into a pretzel, then lifted himself up with his arms and swung back and forth. It was impressive, but kind of gross at the same time. Darius found his true calling, and decided to join the show. We left as the guy was about to balance on a ball with his sister standing on his head. We figured he would be distracted enough that he wouldn't yell after us like he did with the other people who left early. It worked :o)
The train ride home was difficult, we were all pretty hot and tired. All in all though, it was a great day, and I am glad we decided to go.
