Hmmm...

As I was getting Darius' pj's on, Taye (being Frosty) asked me to come upstairs and watch him in the mirror "because its kind of like a video camera." I told him I'd come as soon as I finished helping Darius, and he started up the stairs on his own. Near the top he dropped his hat, and it rolled all the way down. He started after it, but stopped after a few steps and said, "How 'bout you get it when you're done because I'm not live without it." I got it on my way up, and a few minutes later, while I was brushing his teeth, it fell off again. I said, "oh, now you have to be very still while I'm brushing because you're not live, you can't move." He told me, "I can move, 'cause I'm not really a snowman, I'm a boy." Hmm...I think I got duped.

Party time

Happy Birthday Taye

Friday morning Darius informed me that we needed to have a pancake party since it wasn't time for Taye's party yet. It sounded like a good idea to me.

After we were all ready, we drove to the train station and rode into Boston to go to the Museum of Science. We walked over a bridge and saw one of the duck boats driving underneath.
Luis told Taye this was a lollipop, so Taye decided he must be a mouse.

We got off to a slow start in the museum, there wasn't a lot of hands on fun in the first few rooms. Once we made it into the dinosaur room, the fun began.
Daddy had fun too, he played blocks with Darius.
This was a big hit. He recorded himself talking into the tube and then he could play it back and hear himself. We all had fun with that.
My favorite picture of the day. We played shadow puppets with bird puppets on this screen.
Then it was time for fun with animal parts. Taye waving with his new pig arm:
and our little turtles:
The boys got to make butterflies and learn all about capillary action. Mostly they were making butterflies.

We thought about stopping by Quincy Market for dinner, but by the time we were done with the museum it took all our energy just to walk to the train station, switch trains at Government Center, ride about a million more stops, get in the car, hit the drive-thru, and drive an hour home. It was worth it. :o)

Some good lines...

Luis and the boys were playing in the street yesterday when Taye spotted a car coming.
Taye: "A car! A car! A car! Oh, it didn't hit me."

Last night Luis went upstairs and discovered that Taye needed some help. As he helped him, he asked, "Why didn't you call me?"
Taye: "I don't have a phone to call you. Maybe if you got me a little phone that opens up, then I could call you."

Lately when I warn the boys that their meal might be hot, Darius will tell me, "Thats ok, I like hot things." One time I responded, "I do too, thats why I married Daddy." :o) Tonight when he was getting into the bath, I asked Taye if the water was too hot.
Taye: "No, I like hot things. Thats because I got married."

I was searching through all my pictures the other day, and couldn't help noticing a theme...

It must run in the family (on their mother's side, of course!)

We miss you guys! :o)

Daddy's big idea

Daddy came home the other day with a great art idea that he learned in school that day (yes, college). We picked up some supplies and the boys spent the afternoon making paintings.

The three-year project

Three years ago, Luis built a wall between the kitchen and dining room, to make another bedroom. Taye was more than happy to help.

I am happy to report that the project is finally complete. Luis nailed in the door frames today, with Taye's help, as usual.

Is it really coming?

They say spring is coming, but I'm not so sure. We did go to the playground twice this weekend...but then it snowed all day yesterday.

Today our homeschooling group talked about spring, plants, gardening, etc. The kids all painted flower pots, and then planted flowers in them. Lets see if I can keep these alive (if not, theres no hope for the garden I'm planning for this year!)

The activities gave me some hope, but I'm still not convinced spring is actually coming. Living here can do that to you. :o)
