So cool

Do you see what I see?

Just in case you need a closer shot:

A few months ago, I saw a message that Mothering, my favorite magazine, was looking for co-sleeping photo submissions. I sent in one of my favorites, and found out last week that they had chosen it to use in this month's issue. I was so excited! The magazine finally arrived today. Taye thought it was pretty cool too, he's famous now. :o)

Daddy's Girl

Christmas 2008

Christmas Eve the kids opened up their new pajamas (well, Auntie Jackie volunteered to open Mya's for her). Normally I don't 'do' the matching PJ's thing, but for some reason, I could not resist these ones.

We woke up Christmas morning, and got Auntie Jackie from downstairs. Then we all headed over to Nana's room to wake her with the traditional sleigh bells (her favorite tradition, I know). One of the first gifts the boys opened when they got downstairs was their new cowboy boots from Buppa. They were a hit, here is Taye holding them up to check them out in the tiny mirror we have hanging in the livingroom.

As soon as he was satisfied with the boots, he went into the other room to search for his hat. We called him back in to open another gift - cowboy hats all around! Luis' was a gift from the kids.

After a few more gifts, Taye had compiled the entire getup:

The dress-up stuff was definitely Taye's favorite, which was no surprise.

Darius mostly liked opening everything he could get his hands on, and then asking for the next one. He also liked spinning Daddy in the egg chair.

Mya was thoroughly unimpressed with the whole thing, but happy to be passed around.

After we finished opening gifts, Jim came over to visit, and Jackie made a yummy breakfast. Then it was off to the napping house for dinner and more Christmas fun.

On the way over, Taye told me that the Dorsey's house is "where you play with toys and eat food." We did both, it was a lot of fun.

Our Christmas journey continued on to New Hampshire for dessert at Aunt Amy's. The boys had fun playing with the trains, and being chased around by my cousin Bobby.

As usual, it was a lot of driving, but it was well worth seeing everyone.

Taye

In the parking lot the other day, Taye noticed a mountain of snow the plows had left. He looked at it and asked me, "Mama, do you think you can handle that hill?"

He was sitting on Luis' lap the other day, rubbing his head. He said, "Hmm...I like all this hair, not the head though."

Miserable Baby

Gingerbread Fun

Last Sunday our Gingerbread House Invitational was postponed due to snow, so we had to go to plan B. Luis picked up a gingerbread house kit, and he and the boys had fun decorating it.

The boys were mostly interested in the candy, Daddy took care of all the detail work, including the all important door.

They were very happy with the finished product.

A couple of days later, we baked gingerbread men, and that is when the trouble began. There was an apparent break-in at the gingerbread residence. A giant hand came out of nowhere, and tore a piece off the roof. Mr. Breadman yelled, "C'mon man, its the holidays!" but to no avail, the roof was not returned.

Fortunately, the police responded quickly.

Eventually the entire house and its occupants mysteriously disappeared, but they were fun while they lasted.

Homes away from home

Since we had no electricity, heat, hot water, etc. we decided to abandon our house on Friday and head south for the winter. We spent the night at Nana and Grandad's.

After breakfast on Saturday, we headed to the Dorsey's to babysit. Instead, I decided to sprain my ankle so we could go to the hospital and have the Dorsey's babysit our kids. I needed a break. It worked out well. We ended up spending Saturday night there. The boys had a great time, even Batman.

Our power came back on Sunday, so we could go home. Before we left, the kids got to help decorate the Dorsey's Christmas tree.

Ice Storm

We woke up Friday morning to a complete mess outside. There was ice all over, branches covered the ground, our power was out and it was getting chilly. But even I had to admit...you may want to sit down...it was pretty. I couldn't wait to get out and take pictures.

Daddy brought a branch inside to show the boys. They thought it was pretty cool.
